A classic starter adventure ride with some of the Bay’s best views! Sausalito is posh and picturesque with a beautiful, small downtown along the waterfront, sleepy houseboat communities, and decadent foodie treats every few feet.
We’ll start our ride in Golden Gate Park going by the Conservatory of Flowers, the DeYoung Museum, and rose gardens, then heading North to the Presidio and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge (which has a dedicated bike lane separate from where cars drive, so don’t worry about vehicles or pedestrians!). You can stop along the way for incredible views and photo ops of SF, Angel Island and Alcatraz.
We'll arrive in Sausalito in just under an hour and we’ll stay for about an hour to enjoy social time, a picnic lunch (plenty of options to buy there if you don’t want to pack), stretching, exploring or just rest. Then we’ll head back to SF with a couple stops along the way as we pass Lover’s Lane, the Walt Disney Museum, the SF National Cemetery, and two moderate hills that will get your heart pumping but shouldn’t intimidate you. This ride is open to anyone comfortable riding on roads. You don’t have to be an athlete, but you should be ready to sweat a bit.
Note that our starting location is a block away from Parkwide Bike Rentals, if you want to rent a mountain bike or even an electric bike (what hills?!) as well as Whole Food Market to grab snacks or drinks, and plenty of coffee options!
