Let's take a stroll across the Golden Gate Bridge! Crossing the bridge on foot is a fun urban hike to remember. The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most internationally recognized symbols of San Francisco and California. It was initially designed in 1917 and it has been declared one of the Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers!
Once we walk to the Sausalito side of the Golden Gate Bridge, we will take a break at the scenic overlook called Vista Point. We will see a memorial that was constructed with a replica of The Lone Sailor as its focal point. The Lone Sailor statue was dedicated in 2002 to all of the Sea Services - Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine.
Then we will hike for twenty minutes up to Vista Golden Gate for the best views of the bridge and San Francisco skyline. The hike is up an easy incline and well-worth this great photo opportunity! We will then head back across the bridge before celebrating our success! We walked across the Golden Gate Bridge! Whoot!
